When a burst pipe threatened to close The Willow Room, Klasik Construction stepped in. We managed a complex restoration, salvaging key elements while seamlessly integrating new finishes and furnishings, ensuring the restaurant reopened stronger than ever in just three months.
The Willow Room, a Lincoln Park institution, faced a crisis when a burst pipe caused extensive flooding. Klasik Construction was called upon to lead the restoration effort, a race against time to bring the cherished restaurant back to life. The damage was significant, impacting both the main dining area, the main kitchen, the basement speakeasy, and the basement prep kitchen. Working closely with the insurance company, our team expedited the demolition and rebuilding process, determined to minimize the restaurant's downtime.
While much was lost, Klasik Construction was able to salvage some of The Willow Room's signature features, including the main bar’s stone top and millwork, along with the beloved exposed brick walls, lighting, and ceiling details. These elements served as a foundation for the restoration, preserving the restaurant's familiar warmth and character. However, the flood necessitated replacing virtually everything else, from flooring and wall coverings to custom booths and bathroom fixtures. Collaborating with the original interior designer, we sourced modern alternatives that complemented the existing aesthetic, ensuring a seamless transition between old and new.
Klasik Construction's meticulous planning and execution allowed The Willow Room to reopen its doors within an astonishing 90 days of receiving construction approval and funding. The restored restaurant not only recaptures its original charm but also showcases subtle enhancements, a testament to the resilience of the community and the dedication of our team. This project exemplifies our ability to manage complex restorations with speed, precision, and a deep understanding of our clients' needs.
